Get Firebug!

No posts for months then three in one day. This is a brief one.

I’ve been beta-testing Firebug 1.0 and it is totally brilliant.

Get Firebug! (when it is released that is).

I was using the 0.3 and it was brilliant, then appeared the 0.4 and firebug turned to total crap, making the browser totally unstable. The 0.4.1 is not any better and is not helpful as all, i hope the 1.0 will bring back my addiction to 0.3.

any release date for the version 1.0 ? or at least, any url to test the 1.0 beta ?

@Laurent – the 1.0 beta is not public yet. Joe is being a little cautious by slowly leaking it out. Sharing new code makes him nervous he says. Poor lamb.

Which connections and knowledge do I need to become Firebug 1.0 beta tester? It’s an ingenious tool!

@Andi – the first rule of Firebug testing is that we don’t talk about Firebug testing.

I had blogged about this last week after he announced it, but have been curious that it’d be actually as good as he and his site made it sound. glad to hear it’s sounding like it’s measuring up. I’m getting pretty anxious …

I’ve been using 0.4.1 for a while now and its FANTASTIC! Debug output like this is just a godsend.

All I can say is I hope a character number is included by final, when you are using obfuscated code, it makes it a real pain when all errors are on line 1.

“the first rule of Firebug testing is that we don’t talk about Firebug testing.” … just like I’m not talking about it right now. See, I’m not talking about it.:)Btw, it’s pretty sweet.

Sshhh…

Joe, this is none of your business… oh wait.. ok, I suppose it is. So you want us to email those comments? Blog about ’em? Use this post right here as an unofficial thread?

Dustin, email would be fine, no sense flooding Dean’s blog.

You know that you’re addicted to Firebug when you’re at someone alse’s computer and constantly trying to CTRL+SHIFT+C or F12 in other browsers.

You know you’re addicted to Firebug when IE pops up a JavaScript exception warning with a totally useless line number, and when you realize there isn’t a stack trace or breakpoint support you sit down and cry.

You know you’re addicted when you spam Dean’s kitchen about how addicted you are

I honestly don’t know how I would built sites without tools like these. I am humbly indebted.

I love FireBug 0.4 (not in the beta test) so can’t wait for the upgrade and more than willing to pay. One thing I didn’t see in the features was anything about XSL support. What are you using to debug XSL? (assuming you are using XSL that is) I just don’t use XSL enough to justify a several hundred dollar.

It’s out! And it’s amazing!

So awesome. 1.0 feels very well thought out / refactored. Firebug is as essential as a good text editor.

Oh, I installed once 0.3 but it made firefox f**** slow. Well, it looks really nice. Maybe I should buy a faster computer;-)

Firebug is so good I want to start a fan club. It’s like Eclipse for browser-side development. Only better!

Wow, that’s really a great tool. I’ve never heard about it before. But it really makes creating websites much more easy and I couldn’t see that it slows down my firefox. So Firebug is just awesome. I will join the Firebug fan club, too.

I find Firebug to be a welcome enhancement in JS debugging.

It would be nice to learn how to use the debugger for stepping through code.

Firebug helped me a lot with my Joomla! projects. I love when I have so powerful tools like Firebug integrated in my favorite browser. I’m glad many people use it. keep up.

Firebug (V1.05) is really an helpful firefox addon. The “net” feature is pretty cool in order to optimize the loading of my sites and identify the bottleneck.
